The Culture and Leisure Administration includes the Leisure Unit, Culture Unit, Libraries, Culture School, and Parkbadet. The Leisure Unit consists of youth activities (Ung Fritid), outdoor life, association support, operation of sports facilities, and the leisure bank.

We are looking for a youth coach for the unit's youth activities aimed at ages 13-17, based at the meeting place in Storvik.

As a youth coach at Ung Fritid, you play an important role in the daily lives of young people by being a present and engaged adult.

You will have a fun and meaningful job while also having the opportunity to learn more about leading and developing youth activities.

The activities are based on European principles and guidelines for local and open youth work. This means that the activities should be based on a learning process rooted in participation. It also means taking advantage of young people's ideas, experiences, competencies, and interests in a way that sparks their willingness to engage and take responsibility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for someone who is:

• Secure & calm: You are confident in yourself and can remain calm even when things are chaotic or stressful.
• Curious & empathetic: You are interested in other people and can understand their perspectives.
• Social and proactive: You enjoy getting involved and being where the action is. You are eager to take the initiative to come up with activities.
• A role model: You act as a role model, show respect, listen, and help young people grow. Do you have an interest you want to share with the youth? Great! It can be sports, games, crafts, or something entirely different.

Our mission is:

• To guide and encourage young people towards an active, developing, and healthy leisure time through a coaching approach.
• To work for social, cultural, and democratic development.
• To promote communication, dialogue, and integration, as well as provide support for social networks, stimulate meetings, and group formations.
• To staff our meeting places during regular opening hours, lead thematic activities with young people, and during planning time visit schools and prepare for the open activities.
• The work is scheduled and involves regular evening shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pedagogical or social education, a two-year leisure leader education at a folk high school, or other education/experience deemed relevant by the employer.
• We will place great emphasis on personal suitability and wish that you are tobacco-free, as the youth should be offered tobacco-free environments.
• Driver's license B, manual transmission.
• To be considered for employment, a clean extract from the police criminal record is required.
